40 Days and 40 Nights  Day-4

Today looks like a great day to make some money, you know that green stuff that seems to run in and out of your bank account like a drunken sailor during beer fest. Yep that be the one, a beauty of a day after last nights storms just about blew the house down. So my plan for today is to update my blog which you are currently reading and get in touch with some of my customers from my web design business. Oh I didn't tell you about it, my bad. Well I kind of fell into this line of work by helping a client who was a start-up like myself. I had designed (2) websites for myself and was proud of my efforts. I proceeded to tell some acquaintances about what I was up to when the client casually suggested I could do one for him. Let's get something out in the open here I may have thought I was hot s_it but I'm no fool I didn't poses the skills to take this show on the road, or did I ? I felt like I knew my way around a keyboard 🎹 so maybe, just maybe I could pull this off. It would be just a one time thing what could it hurt everything would be fine, not. Besides my total inexperience my mind was focused on getting the websites I designed for myself off the ground and taking on another project definitely was not part of the plan. I guess, I was on some other cosmic plan that I had no clue about, this could end bad, ( pray for me ) LOL 😂.

I got a snippet of what the client was interested in doing for his site, he was in the security business so everything was on the hush-hush, right. Obviously he did not do his due diligence because I'm blogging about this and If I'm lucky everyone and their cousin will know about it, yep even your cousin with the smelly feet him too 😂. So this is the rundown but before I tell you about it look around the room make sure you are not being seen reading this blog everything must be confidential, remember hush-hush. So the client AKA Mr. Big wanted a professional website I nodded but in my head I was thinking he has got to be kidding right, wrong. Before I knew it I had a laundry list of demands for his site and I don't know if I even washed my laundry lately oh TMI, remember hush-hush. So secret agent man 👨 excuse me I meant Mr. Big wanted some things that seemed reasonable but there was this one thing, remember hush-hush. The one thing that was a lil bit off, Mr. Big wanted a waterfall on his site, scratching my head 🤔. So as I was designing his website he would give me more ideas and more pictures for his site it took shape but looked more like imagery than a security website. I started to have my doubts about the finale product but wanted Mr. Big to tell me what he thought before  I continue on  with the site.

Mr. Big shoots me a angry text and basically calls me out on my s_it. I was actually relieved 😌 to be honest. He stated to me that the site was not going the way he envisioned and wanted me to take a look at another site of a security firm he occasionally worked with. I did the site was clean and detailed as opposed to dark and cluttered, my work. I looked and examined the site and redid his site in (4) hours, I had been working on it for a few weeks but that was because of the weather, I work outside free WIFI. Mr. Big saw the site and was pleased whew he mentioned  something about a guy who broke legs, no need to worry about that now. He also told me that he sometimes gets carried away and had asked for more than the site needed he apologized but had new demands.

I came to understand by taking on this task that I really did it because someone needed my help. However in doing so I needed to rise to the understood and accepted level of competence. After all the client felt his very future and reputation was riding on what I was going to create for him so it was important. I also came into the understanding that I needed to ask more questions about what a perspective client actually wanted, and to know what they actually needed then to inform them of it. I needed to become an expert in what I was doing not walking the fine line of maybe yea or maybe nay. I had to be a dependable, reliable source of knowledge that people could trust. The biggest lesson here was I had to learn to trust myself, I had worked in freezing cold sometimes temperatures less that 40 degrees and dang near caught frostbite to try to deliver what I promised too and I did.
