Has Pandora's Box been opened Part - 3

Has Pandora's Box been opened Part 3?

Welcome readers to the 3rd installment of Has Pandora's Box been opened. I would like to thank all of you for the support and for actually taking the time to read these blogs. Pandora as you know is a Greek myth about mortal women created by the Gods. However, Pandora was gifted with many abilities by the Gods who wanted the best for her. Zeus, the most powerful of all of the Gods was skeptical about giving mortals such gifts he saw the struggles and conflicts that mortals continued to get themselves into. He felt that these gifts could possibly ruin mankind. He gave Pandora a box and instructions to keep the box safe and to never open it. Pandora was radiant and full of curiosity about everything she wanted to know why birds fly as well as why men died. Nothing was off limits to her curious demands she needed to know everything; this made her happy but never content. Her thirst for knowledge could never be sated it grew and grew. Eventually, she opened the box and let all of the darkness it contained out into the world. However, Zeus, in his great wisdom knew that this was a possibility and he added to the box that contained all of the pain and destruction the world would ever know a redeemable spirit called Hope.

The Great Depression (1929-1939) This was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. It began after the stock market crash of 1929 which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. This devastated a 3rd of the US banks, housing plummeted, and unemployment rose 25%. This was followed by a rise in homelessness. Many at the time blamed the economic collapse on the presiding President Herbert Hoover. However, many policies as well as situational changes in the private sector may have had more detrimental effects than anything else. For example, banks had a high volume of loan debt that they could not liquidate. Americans as well as nations around the globe would struggle as international trade was down 50%. Pictures of breadlines and rationings were the norm during this period. Suicide rates were high as many did not have the will to live after such economic devastation The Hoover Dam was constructed between (1931-1936) during the Great Depression. The Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the US states of Nevada and Arizona. A marvelous structure that would stand the test of time was being constructed in Downtown New York City. The world's first 100-story plus building was opened on May 1, 1931, Empire State Building.

32nd President of the US. Franklin D. Roosevelt (March 4, 1933 - April 12, 1945) The 32nd President came into office during the worst economic time in US history. He would help restore the American Republics' faith in the direction of the country. FDR would enact a new series of domestic programs called The New Deal from (1933 to 1939) to combat the effects of The Great Depression. The New Deal put Americans back to work through federal activism. New Federal agencies controlled Agricultural production and stabilize wages and prices of goods. They created public works programs for the unemployed. The country seemed to be headed back in the right direction but could this dependence on the Federal Government actually lead to a crisis in the future. Remembering that the country was founded on the basis that Government serves the people and is controlled by the people and not the other way around. Just like the temptations that were hidden deep within Pandora's Box could the US Government be on the path to total destruction by opening Pandora's Box. By taking the power of control away from the people to control them by offering solutions that would strip more of that control away.

Germany - 1939 Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany invades Poland. This action sparked WW2 in September of 1939 till Germany's surrender in 1945. In 1940 the Nazis opened the most notorious internment camp Auschwitz which would kill millions of Jews in Europe. The Nazis would call this The Finale Solution. To eradicate Jews from Europe and around the world. (1940-1945) The Germans march across Europe and their hunger for world dominance once again opens up Pandora's Box. Hitler called himself The Fuhrer (Leader) of The Third Reich. Hitler was an absolute madman and believed in genocide and the implementation of a Master Race consisting of people with white skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. In all his delirium Hitler didn't consider the fact that he had brown hair and brown eyes.

Pearl Harbor - 1941 On December 7th, 1941, the Island of Pearl Harbor was sunny and peaceful. It was nestled in the Hawaiian Islands an oasis for the military and a famous tourist location. The US tried to stay out of the war in Europe but the Japanese expansion in the Pacific that could leave America and its interest exposed had many worried.  So, the US set up sanctions and other penalties to slow Japanese expansion. However, the Japanese saw an opportunity to cripple their oppressor and target the Military ships, ports, and planes. They knew this was the best time to strike while the US was clueless to do anything and completely caught off guard. At 7:55 AM on December 7th, 1941, the Japanese Military flew kamikaze missions on Pearl Harbor attacking the US. The kamikaze planes were loaded with explosives on a suicide mission to crash into enemy ships and personnel and inflict maximum damage. The attack killed 2,403 US service members and injured 1,178 more. The attack managed to sink our destroyed 6 ships. The damage was enormous as 169 US Navy and Army Air Corps planes were destroyed. This act drew the US into WW2. The Japanese saw an opportunity to deliver a swift blow to its adversary and try to swiftly cripple the US Navy, but these very actions could not save them from what Pandora's Box had in store for them.

WW2 - 09/1/1939 to 09/2/1945 War ripped through the continent of Europe as the Germans and their allies seek to take over the world. Hitler began invading country after country with no apparent end in sight. The US tried to stay out of the combative parts of the war but was assisting the Allied Powers with much-needed supplies to sustain their objectives during the conflict. The US thought in Congress (and other such places) this was a European war and that they did not need to get involved. This thought process completely changed when the Japanese flew kamikaze missions over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Pandora's Box was wide open when a lunatic named Adolf Hitler rose to power in Nazi Germany. His actions would change the world forever. He wanted to take over all of Europe and eventually the world. The most insane part was he almost did. So, what are the lessons learned from Hitler about unchecked power? Power as anyone should well be aware can corrupt. The lust for power leads to greed and the need for more power. As this unfortunate reality exists with many in powerful positions around the globe. Men and women in power need to be constantly evaluated to thwart the first signs of corruption. The blueprint for countless horrors around the globe has been mapped out by the Nazi's the world must never follow this path again. Vigilance to prevent the atrocities inflicted on the Jews and many who lost their lives defending freedom in WW2 must never be forgotten. If we forget, then Pandora's Box will not hesitate to remind us at any cost.

  • Pandora's Box had the last word in the 2nd World War. Unchecked power in the hand of a lunatic who believed in world domination almost prevailed. However, many countries came together to defeat the unstoppable enemy who marched across the globe at a rapid pace. Hitler believed in a Master race where all other people were inferior to that idea. People rose up to stop this tyranny and will ultimately have to do so again. Pandora's Box held within it such chaos and sorrow that gave rise to the harshness and cruelty of war. But Pandora's Box also contained within it the one redeeming factor that will always turn the tide when death and destruction are everywhere with no end in sight. That is hope, it may seem like a small thing but even today, or especially today we all need hope. She's here waiting on you to summon her and become victorious.

  • Thank You
