How to start your own Podcast

Starting your own business is a interesting challenge and you want to complicate things by starting a podcast? Like you mother said " Are you insane". LOl 😂  the short answer would be yes mother I am two fries short of a happy meal 😂 glad you noticed. Ha ha as true as that scenario is to many of us it is time to be a little more serious. Any venture that you may be undertaking could be complex and this particular one has its specifics. So lets dive into it and get you and your loving mom sorted out shall we.

First things first the gear needed to start your very own podcast will be a quite room or studio. The room you will be using needs sound dampers so no background noises interrupt your podcast. Your listeners will be grateful for this and your production will seem more professional. Your next piece of equipment is your microphone, since we already know you love to talk, probably invest on getting two of these. Depending on your environments you would either need a USB mic or Dynamic/ Condenser mic. Your USB is usually a simple plug and play affair with your computer recognizing the software and your good. For your outside environments best to go with a Dynamic mic as it will cancel out background noises. Your next piece of equipment would be your headphones, over the ear close back headphones should do the trick. Next up headphone amp, pot filter, table top stand or a boom mic.

Now that you have your basic set up it's time to get you started. For your best podcast experience it would be a good thing to make your space as comfortable as possible. Understand your tone and try to enunciate your words clearly, try not to rush your words as it will be difficult to understand you and your audience will notice. Be calm and relaxed during the broadcast, review your material so your familiar with it and won't be caught off guard with any subject. A calm relaxed environment is key to allow your creativity to flow often cluttered space seem chaotic and the over all vibe is put off by this. Enjoy what you do look forward to the broadcast and your guest. Last but not least make sure your podcast is entertaining. Having a entertaining flow to your podcast will definitely put your production on the right track. Always thank your guest, production staff and most importantly your audience.

With that said you can go and hug dear ol mom and say "Life is like a bowl of chocolates you never know what you gonna get". Love you mom. How to start a Podcast
